| Thiess Kentz Re-branded |
With the ongoing roll-out of the Kentz Global Business Units (GBUs), communication strategy presentations were conducted in the Perth and Brisbane offices in Australia in December 2009. These were done in an effort to share with all the staff some minor changes to the structure of the Company.
Kentz has been active in Australia since 1989 when it undertook electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction work on the Woodside Petroleum Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project in Western Australia. Since then Kentz’s presence in the country has grown, culminating with the formation of a joint venture (JV) partnership with local construction company Thiess in 2004. |

The JV has had some success with E&I construction projects but the recent boom in LNG activity in Australasia has prompted Kentz to commit to expanding its presence in Australia. Across the world the formation of the GBUs – Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), Construction, and Technical Support Services – has quickly had a positive impact on the Group. In particular the EPC GBU has been awarded some major projects in Australia, outside of the JV Company.
It has been agreed between Kentz and Thiess that going forward the E&I construction business, formally known as Thiess Kentz, will be rebranded as Kentz E&C and will sit within Kentz’s Australian business under the full control of Kentz’s management.
This took effect from 1st January 2010 and allows Kentz’s Australian Construction Business Unit to benefit from the efficient sharing of expertise and resources from across the Group. It will also strengthen key customer relationships, building on already strong relationships in other Kentz offices and will open up global career and educational opportunities for employees in Australia.
Kentz looks forward to a long and prosperous presence in Australia and a continued association with Thiess.

| Kentz-OJ’s employees with children of Operation Smile Orphanage |
Employees from Kentz-OJ’s in Trinidad paid a special visit to children at the Operation Smile Orphanage in Gasparillo on Tuesday 22nd December 2009. They delivered numerous food items, including snacks and fruits as well as Christmas presents.
The highlight of the visit was the joyful expressions on the children’s faces as they received and eagerly opened their presents, which were all individually distributed. The true meaning of Christmas was indeed rekindled in the hearts of each Kentz-OJ’s representative that day.
On behalf of all in Kentz we would sincerely like to thank Sherizan Mohammed, Document Controller/Branding Co-ordinator; Dhanraj Ramdass, Carpenter; Avigail Biswah-Ramdass, Project Controls Manager; and Asha Khan, Senior Instrument Technician, for their efforts, all voluntary, which made these children’s Christmas extra special. |

| Teams line up at the opening ceremony |
A large crowd witnessed the opening ceremony of the Inter-Camp Basketball Tournament held at Qatar Kentz’s Pearl Gas to Liquid (GTL) Camp in Ras Laffan Industrial City on 15th October 2009.
Employees from different departments based on the Pearl GTL Project competed against each other in the month-long competition. A total of 12 teams participated in the scheduled competition, which was played every evening at the basketball court in the Kentz camp.
It was a very competitive tournament with teams putting their blood, sweat and tears into each game. The finals took place in November with the Gas Turbine Team winning the Plate Competition and the Golden Iron Fabricators Team defeating the Quantity Surveyors Team to become the champions in the Cup Competition.
Noel Moreno, Office Clerk and captain of the Quantity Surveyors Team, was given the prestigious award of Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
Everyone who participated thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and played their best in order to become the title-holders of the coveted Qatar Kentz Camp Basketball Championship Cup.
Well done to all the teams that took part and we look forward to seeing if the Golden Iron Fabricators can retain their title in the next tournament! |

| Qatar Kentz golf day attendees |
On 7th October 2009 Kentz employees in Doha, Qatar, enjoyed a fun-filled day out as they attended Kentz’s annual golf day at the Doha Golf Club.
Eighty-eight golfers registered and took to the driving range for a few practice shots and refreshments before being explained the rules of the Texas Scramble tournament by Martin Walsh, Country Director, Qatar.
The evening function was held in the marquee at the golf club and golfers’ partners, clients and additional Kentz staff attended. Martin Walsh welcomed the guests and, once dinner was out of the way, the prize-giving commenced.
Dave Moreland from the Doha Golf Club announced the winners and Noel Kelly, Advisor to Kentz, and Clifford Lasrado, representative of Kentz’s Qatari partner, presented the Tipperary Crystal prizes with Martin Walsh.
With the formal proceedings over, it was time to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening with dancing and singing which carried on well into the night. Many thanks to all clients and staff that participated and hopefully you will be back again next year to join in the fun! |
