Student Sponsorship in Qatar
BSME Kids
Students from Park House English School in Doha
During November 2007, Qatar Kentz sponsored eighteen students from Park House English School in Doha, which enabled them to attend the British Schools Middle East Arts Festival in Kuwait. The students took part in five different workshops ranging from music to drama to dance. On the last evening, along with children from sixteen other schools from all over the region, they performed in front of a large appreciative audience. It was an excellent and very productive weekend; not only did the children learn a lot, but it enabled them to make many new friends from all over the Middle East.

Referrals have proven to be a great source of getting the right people into Kentz.

Pink RibbonThe Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation held their annual Pink Ribbon Fundraising day on 22nd October 2007 and the Thiess Kentz team got involved by selling raffle tickets, merchandise and holding a pink-themed Morning Tea.

Breast cancer has touched so many lives in communities across Australia and it was fantastic to see the effort and enthusiasm displayed by the Thiess Kentz team. With all the delicious pink cup cakes, pink lamingtons and Tim Tams at the Morning Teas, there was a great atmosphere to spread the message of early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

The ultimate goal of the National Breast Cancer Foundation is to raise enough money to eventually fund a cure for breast cancer. AUD$1018 was raised – great effort, guys.

TALEOTaleo Update

In November 2007 Kentz moved from an Excel recruitment status-based reporting system to reporting from TALEO, directly by Business Unit for the Middle East Region and group-wide. New user sessions and user update sessions are planned for the Middle East Region from early February, and will take place in the Russian office in the 4th week of February. The implementation team gathered all the queries made on the system by users and bundled this into an easy-to-use “Questions and Answers” user guide, which was then distributed to all TALEO users in early December. Contact mryan@kentz.ie if you require a copy.

Kentz InTouch is the new communication tool in Kentz for training and development.
All TALEO users will be registered to use this system. Here users can post TALEO issues and pick up user documents and training materials etc. as they are released. This went live on 21st January 2008.

On the 19th October 2007, President Guebuza of Mozambique landed at the Moma Heavy Mineral Sands Project airstrip to inaugurate the mine, where Kentz undertook all the Structural Mechanical Electrical Instumentation and Piping construction work.

He was met by hundreds of his local supporters, many of whom had travelled far and wide to witness the occasion and show their support. After a brief tour of the site he was taken to the main office where he unveiled the Jim Small commemorative plaque.

The President congratulated all the companies involved in the project and commented on the great achievement of building a site of this size and magnitude in such a remote location. After a short speech he enjoyed a lunch in the Kenmare canteen with some of the Kenmare officials.

The value of overall project was approximately $300m and Kentz's portion was $55m, with a total of almost 3 million manhours worked.
