Abu Dhabi Nets a New Team

Kentz Abu Dhabi has recently sponsored a newly-formed ladies netball team. The squad plays in the Abu Dhabi National League (ADNL) against teams sponsored by other companies, both local companies and those contracted to work in the Gulf. The squad does regular practice on week days and plays games on Wednesday evenings at the Sheikh Zayed Academy for Girls.

The ADNL recently took part in an inter-Gulf tournament in Bahrain and a member of the
Kentz-sponsored squad was on one of the winning teams. The squad is excited and looking forward to attending the ADNL Annual Ball on 9th May 2008 in Abu Dhabi.

Integr8 Update

Software development continues in Saudi Arabia and Qatar on the new/revised company project control systems, Project Cost Management System (PCMS), Procurement and Material Management System (PAMMS), Document Management System (DMS), and Construction and Completion Management System (CCMS). Scheduled for beta-testing at the end of July, the systems will eventually be rolled out on all future Kentz projects.

These systems will operate on a new company-wide hardware infrastructure which was tested recently in Dublin and is now being dispatched to offices across the globe. These comprise of the very latest in server technologies, combined with the most advanced operating systems available.

Pictured above right is Kentz’s new data centre team attending the Integr8 Infrastructure Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) in Dublin in February 2008.

Kentz has also achieved another significant milestone with the Global Microsoft and Symantec Licensing Agreements coming into effect.

Skating
Bye Bye Bally!

Some of our employees based in Yuzhno got together on Sunday 2nd March for a traditional South African “braai” (barbecue) to celebrate the arrival of spring as well as bid farewell to Bally Hanekom. Bally moves on to his next assignment based in Calgary, Canada.

Despite the light snow flurries in the early afternoon, and temperatures “soaring” to around freezing point, the afternoon gathering turned into a very festive event. There was some delicious “vleis” (meat) roasting on the barbecue, great company and activities, including ice-skating. For some of the guys from South Africa it was their 1st time skating and they did well to stay on their feet.

John managed to stay on his
feet on his ice-skating debut

Cupid Spreading the Love
Nick Brits is normally a Field Engineer, based in the Kentz Durban office in South Africa. However, this St Valentine's Day he realised that there was not enough love in the world and decided to play Cupid for the day!   Nick Brits as Cupid

Vicky Goes Vintage
Vicky in the MG
Vicky gives the thumbs up from the '52 Model TD.
Vicky Cronje and her partner Peter were invited by Chris Swale, a friend of theirs who is an MG enthusiast, to join him on a Sunday run. Vicky is PA to Terry Henebrey, Maintenance and Shutdowns Manager, Kentz Southern Africa.

The run took the form of a mini “Amazing Race” – they had a list of 30 clues to which they had to find the answers along the way. It took about 2 hours to complete the course and Peter and Vicky managed to get 29 out of 30 of the clues, which was one of the top three scores.

The MG is a 1952 model TD and has been lovingly restored by Chris, who has also modified the engine to 1800cc with a 5-speed gearbox, so it goes like the clappers! It was a brilliant day and they thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie between the members of the MG Club. Chris Swale has four vintage MGs and is passionate about his cars so Vicky and Peter were very honoured to drive one.
