Dignitaries from Bateman, Local Government and various business associates were in attendance. Also present were executives from Kenmare Resources including Terry Fitzpatrick, Director; Brian Blumrick, Engineering Manager; Dennis Roberts, Mineral Separation Plant Manager; and Jim White, General Manager, as well as a number of members of their management team.

The occasion also marked the achievement of reaching 2.75 million LTI (Lost Time Injury) free man-hours at the Moma site.

Bateman presented Kentz with a Safety Certificate of Achievement to commemorate this accomplishment. There were complimentary speeches made by both the clients and the workforce, and Jabulani Midzi, Site Manager, commended 14 semi-skilled locals who were recruited as labourers at the beginning of the project and are now skilled as scaffolders and a welder.

The formalities were followed by good food, music and dancing and, needless to say, a good time was had by all. Once again, well done to the Moma team! Wishing you all the best in your next project with Kentz.

Leadership on Pluto

A Leadership Alignment Workshop was held on Friday 16th October in Parmelia House (Thiess Kentz’s office building) in Perth, Australia. The workshop followed Thiess Kentz’s recent AUS$86m contract award on the Pluto Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project. The contract involves the installation of all the electrical and instrumentation services to the main LNG process train at Woodside Petroleum’s “Greenfield” Project in Western Australia.

The purpose of the workshop was to visibly show the improvements in how our people work together to get the job done. Another aim was to reinforce the intention of becoming the electrical contractor of choice for future LNG process trains being constructed in Australia and its surrounds. The workshop was facilitated by David Hodgson from Neuchatel Partners based in Taringa, Queensland.

The workshop was designed to seek alignment and understanding of the defining work of leaders and team members in executing a successful project. The project team members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, industries and experiences.

Spring Celebrations in Vanderbijlpark

On Friday 4th September Kentz Integrated Solutions, Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, held a casual day at their office to celebrate spring. The theme of the fun team-building event was “hats”. As usual the turnout and response was great, with most of the staff participating. The prize for the “best and most original hat” went to Johan Zeelie, Stores Manager, and he received a box of chocolates from Madia van der Linde, Human Resources Assistant, for his efforts. Following the judging everyone was treated to a glass of alcohol-free champagne and a delectable cup cake.

Thank-you to everyone for the efforts put in and hopefully the event will be as good next year!

Right: Most original hat winner, Johan Zeelie
