Hello to H2O!
On 2nd July 2009 the Qatar Kentz Pearl GTL IE2 camp held a Drink Water Campaign between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm for all those living in the camp.
With temperatures in Qatar soaring into the high 40-50ºC, the campaign was held in order to improve awareness of the importance of drinking water in order to keep all employees healthy, hydrated and cool.
During the campaign mineral water was distributed to all the attendees at the mess hall and Terence Acojido, Camp Nurse, gave an informative speech highlighting the following issues for the benefit of the campaign participants:
| • Heat stress prevention procedures |
| • Benefit of drinking enough water |
| • Emergency response programme |
| • Black flag procedure on work site |
 |
A large number of camp occupants attended the campaign, and with their active participation and positive response it was a huge success.

| Vaal de Grace Golf Day
The Maintenance and Shutdowns Division of Kentz South Africa recently held a golf day on the Vaal de Grace Golf Estate in Parys in the Orange Free State. Kentz golfers came together from all over the country, with invited guests from Natref. The golf day was organised to give Kentz and Natref employees a break from their busy schedules and to thank them for all their hard work.
The golf estate is set on the banks of the Vaal River which splits the course in two. However, the beautiful surroundings do not take away from the challenges of the course. The day began with a healthy breakfast to fuel the golfers before tee-off. The first nine holes went off well but the second half was unfortunately a washout.
A great time was had by all; even the rain couldn’t dampen our golfers’ spirits! Hopefully everyone will be just as eager to tee off next time around.

| Cycle for Cancer |

On Saturday 19th September Elaine Kinane, Finance/Payroll Officer for Kentz in Clonmel, and her family took part in a 25-mile cycle around Co. Tipperary, Ireland. The cycle was in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and there were approximately 80 participants on the day. The Irish Cancer Society is the national cancer care charity in Ireland and is a very worthwhile cause.
Elaine, along with her husband Aidan, daughter Sinéad, niece Stephanie and brother-in-law Paul began their trek in Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary. Elaine and Paul had standard bicycles, while Aidan had a tandem bike and the girls took turns cycling with him. There were a few hiccups along the way with Aidan getting a flat tyre, but thankfully everyone crossed the finish line in one piece.
Elaine and her family raised some much-needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society and would like to thank all her colleagues in the Clonmel office who kindly sponsored her. Hopefully she will be back next year to complete the cycle again. |

All-Ireland Glory
Every summer the little island of Ireland comes alive with county pride and passion as the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) Hurling and Football Championships commence. Both competitions take place from May to September every year and are the biggest events on the Irish sporting calendar. The hearts of the people of Ireland, both at home and abroad are gripped as their county teams battle their way through numerous games to reach the all-important All-Ireland Final. Supporters from Kentz are no different as they travel far and wide to attend games and proudly wear their counties’ colours. |

In hurling, the top teams over the last number of years have been Kilkenny, Waterford, Tipperary, Cork, Limerick and Galway. Unfortunately for the latter teams, Kilkenny has been dominating the sport in recent years, achieving their fourth consecutive win in 2009. However, there is no doubt that the other counties will all be back fighting fit next year to try to put their stamp in the record books and claim the game’s top prize, the coveted Liam McCarthy Cup.
Gaelic football has a lot of excellent teams, but Kerry and Tyrone have been winners over the past seven championships. The rest of the country will have to be on top of their games in 2010 to defeat these football warriors and bring home the Sam Maguire Cup.
Some lucky Kentz employees recently got the chance to lift the famous Sam Maguire and Liam McCarthy Cups.
