Ladies’ Golf Tournament

As part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Qatar, Kentz supported a Ladies’ Golf Tournament at the Doha Golf Club. This is a fantastic outlet for the ladies during the long, hot summer in Doha, and a much anticipated event.

Beginning at 7.30 am, the 19 ladies’ teams teed off and, with fantastic prizes up for grabs generously donated by Kentz, everyone was giving it their best shot!

Prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th as well as longest drive and nearest to the pin. When they were finished their rounds, the ladies enjoyed a much deserved lunch in the golf club, also sponsored by Kentz. A prize-giving ceremony was held after lunch and the president of the ladies golf section thanked Qatar Kentz for their kind and generous sponsorship.

Well done to everyone who took part and we look forward to bringing you another great tournament next year!

Fibre Optic Training in Saudi

The Saudi Kayan Project in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, recently ran a successful fibre optic cable, splicing and testing skills workshop. Anthony Uy (Project Manager), Eddie Cremin (Manager of Construction Projects), and John McFadden (Procurement Officer), helped organise the day.

This training course took place from 26th-30th July and was conducted by Instructor Dyson Booth of CNET Training. The workshop was held at the Al Diwan Park Inn Hotel, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Successful candidates were awarded a BTEC accreditation.

The course covered the following areas in detail:

  • Data communication cable installation (fibre optic)
  • Theory of light transmission
  • Customer requirements (general safety knowledge)
  • Structured cable standards
  • Documentation and labelling
  • Connectors
  • Fibre optic termination and splicing
  • Fibre optic data links (testing)

The main objective of the course was to enable attendees to self-perform fibre optic and associated works in the very near future. It took considerable preparation to make the course happen with the required specialised equipment. Thankfully it all ran smoothly.

All the training participants who attended the course have gained valuable experience in a specialised field, which will help the company going forward.
